Week Two

..well, the start of week 2 anyways. Dayshifts are generally busy and it looks as though I will be days for the month. My partner prefers the nightshift so there we go. The Centre is open from 830 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and outside of that a paramedic works the Emerg and there is a nurse on call. Patients have to call nurse on call after hours, or if it is a walk in to Emerg, security lets them in. So dayshift is much busier, but nightshift sees the more "interesting" clientel. Snow buntings. I was hoping to have a picture or two of this pretty birdie this week, but they seem to be pretty shy. I either don't have my phone on me when one is stopped close enough, or they take off as I get set to take the picture. They are the only bird in town besides the occassional raven, and the seagulls over the dump. Their song is like a cross between a robin and a canary and they are very pretty- almost all white with some black accents. Maybe later this week I can get something. Bird feeders and seed for attracting them doesnt seem to be a thing up here...
I was asked about the size of the comminity so I took pictures from farther back and from the gas pumps by the airport and the other end on the way out to the cemetary. Looking at my pictures this week it occurs to me that I tend towards wide open serene landscapes- that might be seen as lonely or...no- really- I like moody landscapes! But I know "some" people like to see people and activity and stuff. So my new goal- for next week, is to take some "interest" pictures.
In the photo above here theres a group of white birds at center- I don't think they are seagulls, but I will get back to you on that. I think they are small geese or white ducks or...? the other one is down the road back of the airport out to the west- theres an island- with hills, and the thin line on the horizon is the mainland. I'm not going to have time to get to the other side of the island- it's just too far and I can't have the vehicle out that long. So far my impression of "flat" is accurate.
Temperatures have remained regularily highs between 1 and 3 degrees, more cloud than sun, and when its windy it feels much colder. But comfortable if you don't compare it to Londons weather. Think they are still calling for flurries today and tomorrow... Here's the house Shel. My room is top left- the one with aluminum foil on the window. No silly, not to block the radio waves- someone prior didn't have green garbage bags for a sun blocker, so you use what you've got. This plus the dark curtains work great for sleeping. But, time for my rounds.
